The StreamShark live CTA (Call-To-Action) functionality adds the ability to push real-time CTA banners to viewers, enabling you to drive specific actions, such as encouraging sign-ups, promoting exclusive offers, or gathering feedback through polls. This guide demonstrates how to create and manage live CTAs as well as explaining how they work.
This feature is available to selected customers. Please contact support if you are interested in using this functionality as part of your live event workflow.
Create a Live CTA
1. Head to the Manage Events page by clicking on streaming events on the left hand menu in the StreamShark portal:
2. Click on the name of an existing event, or create a new one. (For help on creating a live event, see here for more details: https://support.streamshark.io/hc/en-us/articles/360002755952-How-to-Create-a-Live-Streaming-Event):
3. Click on the Live CTAs tab to manage all CTAs:
4. Create a CTA by clicking the "Add" button and entering the required details. The "CTA Preview" field will showcase how the CTA will appear in the player.
Notes:
- There are limitations on the character count. A maximum of 40 characters for the "Title" field and 75 characters for the "Body Text" field.
- All fields are required except the "Image" field (refer to screenshots below to see how the CTA will look without an image).
- The image has a max size of 2MB. Any image over this size will not be accepted.
5. Once you have created your CTA, you can pin, edit, delete or activate the CTA.
Note: Once a CTA has been created for an event, it can be reused throughout all events. Pinning a CTA to an Event will make it easier to locate CTAs associated with a specific Event.
Using Live CTAs During an Event Live Stream
- Broadcast your Event stream (see here for more details: https://support.streamshark.io/hc/en-us/articles/360002755952-How-to-Create-a-Live-Streaming-Event)
- Once the stream has been broadcasted, ensure your event phase is "Main Event". You can change this from the "Workflow" tab:
- Navigate to your Event's shareable player by heading to the "Overview" tab and opening the "Player Page":
- With your player open in another tab, let's try activating the live CTA. Navigate back to the "Live CTAs" tab and click on the "Activate CTA" button:
-
After activation has been confirmed the CTA will appear in the player within 20 seconds. Viewers can click the action button or dismiss the CTA as needed.
If no image is included in the CTA, it will look like this:
Notes
- You are able to activate multiple CTAs even if a CTA is currently active. The newly activated CTA will override the current CTA.
- There is no limit to how many times a CTA can be activated
- If you edit a CTA, you will need to activate it again to see the new changes
- The CTA will remain visible until the viewer dismisses it.
